Be sure to plant plenty of spares for the vase, and resist the urge to pick too early, as, unlike many other flowers, dahlias dont unfurl a great deal once theyve been cut. Picking first thing in the morning or later in the evening (when moisture levels are high) will result in a longer vase-life, as will changing the water once or twice.
