Bring sun-kissed sweetness home with a trio of complementary figs: cold-tough Chicago Hardy, compact Little Miss Figgy (perfect for containers), and prolific Brown Turkey. Together they extend your harvest window, fit a range of spaces, and deliver rich, jammy fruit for fresh eating, drying, and desserts—plus handsome, tropical-looking foliage that elevates patios and garden beds.
Fig Orchard Pack Care
Plant in full sun (6–8+ hours) and well-drained soil; figs dislike “wet feet.” Ideal pH is ~6.0–7.0. Water deeply but infrequently to keep soil evenly moist, especially during fruit swell; reduce watering as fruit nears ripeness to concentrate flavor. Mulch 2–3″ to conserve moisture and protect shallow roots.
Feed lightly in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer; avoid heavy summer nitrogen (it favors leaves over fruit). Prune in late winter: remove dead/damaged wood, thin crowded shoots, and maintain an open, airy framework.
Figs in this pack are self-fertile (no pollinator needed). Cold-climate tip: in Zones 5–6, grow in containers you can winter in a garage/shed, or protect in-ground plants with heavy mulch or wraps after leaf drop.
General hardiness guides: Chicago Hardy (approx. Zones 5–10; may die back and resprout), Brown Turkey (Zones 7–10; Zone 6 with protection), Little Miss Figgy (Zones 7–10; great container choice in colder zones).
Fig Orchard Pack Spacing
In-ground, free-standing: space 8–12 ft apart for full shrubs; tighter (6–8 ft) if you’ll keep plants pruned to ~6–8 ft tall.
Espalier/fan against a fence: 8–10 ft between plants, stems trained laterally for easy picking.
Containers: one tree per pot; start with 16–20″+ diameter for Little Miss Figgy and 20–24″+ for Chicago Hardy/Brown Turkey, with excellent drainage. Position containers 2–3 ft apart for airflow and access.
