OLÉ!® Bicolor Red Oleander keeps flowering even when other shrubs check out during baking heat. The ruffled, dark pink flowers with white striping are a standout among oleanders. It matures around 4–6 feet tall and about 4 feet wide, holding a mounded, lightly willowy shape that’s easier to use near patios and tighter beds than older, rangier types. Its narrow evergreen foliage stays present year-round. We tend to leave this one mostly unpruned so the airy stems can move and the bloom clusters sit naturally on top.
Nerium oleander ‘JBNOL9’ is tolerant of heat, drought once established, and average to poor soils as long as drainage is good. Blooming happens on new wood, so any light shaping still leaves you with plenty of flowers later in the season. This oleander makes a practical flowering screen, a bold specimen, or a container thriller where you want evergreen structure and summer color in one plant. Important safety note: like all oleanders, every part is toxic if ingested and the sap can irritate skin.

Plant in full sun for the strongest flowering and the densest growth. OLÉ!® Bicolor Red Oleander is not picky about soil fertility, but it does need well-drained ground, with a pH that can run slightly acidic to mildly alkaline. Avoid sites that stay wet after rain or irrigation.
Water regularly during the first growing season, then let the soil dry between deep soakings once established. If leaves start to droop a bit in extreme heat, that’s your cue to water. Skip heavy fertilizing, since rich feeding often produces extra foliage at the expense of flowers; a light spring feeding is plenty if your soil is very lean. In zones 8–11 it stays evergreen, and in cooler snaps it may show some leaf damage but rebounds as warmth returns.
If you prune, do it with gloves and long sleeves and clean up clippings carefully, since the sap is irritating and the plant is toxic. Because it blooms on new wood, the best time to shape is after a flush of flowers or in late winter to early spring, taking only what you need to keep the outline balanced. For a hedge, use selective thinning cuts rather than shearing to maintain a natural, flowering habit and better air movement.

Space plants about 4 feet apart for a dense hedge or screen, and a bit wider if you want to see the individual mounded forms. In containers, go with a pot at least 18–24 inches wide with excellent drainage so roots don’t sit wet in summer storms.
