From Dale Lindgren of the University of Nebraska (of P. ‘Husker Red’ fame) comes a new hybrid seed strain of native US penstemons that we think you will love. The flat rosettes send up naked spikes to 2′ in May, topped with obscenely large, penstemon-like bells in shades of pink and light lavender. Visitors to the garden last year flipped over these, so here they are. Prairie penstemons grow best in well-drained drier sites in the garden.
