Let your late summer garden shine boldly with the beautiful bicolour blooms of Rudbeckia ‘MiniBeckia Flame’. This compact Rudbeckia has all the guts and glow of a taller, traditional variety but on shorter, more rigid stems. And just like its taller cousins, its a true star of summer, creating a real sensation with its vibrant colours. This semi-double variety has those classic mahogany doorknob centres, and rusty-red petals that bleed into rich sunset orange. The overall result is a magnificent display of golden late-summer colour, on a neat and manageable sized plant. Its self-branching habit means that it produces plenty of flowering stems once its had time to establish itself, and Rudbeckia ‘MiniBeckia Flame’ will often go on blooming for several weeks.
As mid-summer flowers start to fade, rudbeckias really get into their stride, their colours seemingly perfectly matched to the mellow light and rich tones of this time of year. Rudbeckia‘MiniBeckia Flame’ brings a bit of prairie planting magic to patio continers, being perfectly sized for them, as well as in groups or drifts in mixed borders, where it will make a well-mounded bushy shape and associate really well with mellow grasses like Pennisetum and Panicum, or hot-coloured late summer favourites such as helenium, cannas and dahlias. Like all black-eyed Susans, Rudbeckia‘MiniBeckia Flame’ loves a sunny spot. Its open flowers are a hit with pollinators too, and give even more value as winter comes: leaving the dried seedheads on the plants will give a treat to the birds, as well as adding valuable winter structure to the garden.
